But as hard as it is for me to sometimes recognise, there is much beauty in being invisible. Being able to sharpen your craft/idea and construct your brand while few people are looking is a luxury. A luxury that I may not want forever, but it is even scarier to be visible without the saw being sharpened. When the expectation is high and the reality is low.
Yes I want my dreams to come true sooner rather than later, but being invisible is a great opportunity to grow and build.
You have your doubts along the way, you wonder whether this is all just a waste of time and whether that time could be used more “productively”. Maybe focusing on something that currently pays more money. You wonder whether you need to wake up from the daydream that one day people will care and pay with their wallets, but you have to trust in your talent and ambitions.
If you have trialled your dream and seen results then it shows that there is potential. With each step it is about taking it to the next level, breaking barriers and refining that saw. Then in that key moment when the spotlight is on, you can look inside and say “Hey Everybody Chill, I’ve Got This!”. Like the saying goes
“It takes 10 years to become an overnight success”
When I reflect on my own position, I can see that although I started writing 13 years ago, I have lacked the consistency of content and branding to truly build something great. That is why I feel like I have only just started my journey of becoming an overnight success.
It takes time to be visible, but it will all be worth it in the end. So if you’re at the beginning of your journey or at a point where you’ve seen some success but are ready for the next level, keep enjoying the journey and cherish these invisible times because when things change, everything changes.
